From the shores of the Caspian sea to the Altai mountains bordering China, it is now the same time everywhere. Reports indicate that Kazakhstan has transitioned to a single time zone effective from March 1st of 2024. The Kazakh Ministry of Trade and Integration confirmed the adoption of the UTC +6 nationwide. Previously, the country operated on two time zones, UTC+5 and UTC+6. This time zone also includes The Russian oblast of Omsk, the whole country of Kyrgyzstan and the British Indian Ocean Territory.
The adjustment in time zones implies that when traveling from Volgograd Oblast in Russia to West Kazakhstan, you must advance your clock by three hours. Although significant, this isn’t the largest difference. Traveling from Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province to China’s Xinjiang, the gap is 3.5 hours, setting a world record.
Time zones are changing all the time. Keep an eye on our socials to get the latest updates.
